Education funding

Education funding to local schools

Education funding is a key priority of the Trust and every year a large portion of our funding is allocated to education.

We provide annual funding to Kuranui College, Greytown Primary School, Greytown Kindergarten and Greytown Early Years.

This funding is awarded to the schools following an application process generally held in October where each school submits applications for initiatives and projects for the following school year.

  • The schools will be invited to submit their applications for the 2025 initiatives and projects in October.

The amount available under this fund this financial year is $56,250.

  • Trustees considered funding applications from our four local education providers for initiatives and projects for the 2024 school year. The fund available was $57,450.

Kuranui College applied for funding towards costs associated with their successful and growing Wananga / Academy learning programme. Trustees are very supportive of this initiative and awarded $25,000. A similar amount was awarded last year.

Greytown School received $20,000 for a new sound system for the school hall and $4,135 for the purchase of equipment for their Enviroschool Group programme.

The Woodwork for Young Learners programme that the Trust funded for Greytown Kindergarten last financial year has been such a great success for them that they applied again this year to cover further regular sessions in 2024 with Martin the Toymaker. They have been awarded $5,000 towards the continuation of this very worthwhile programme.

Greytown Early Years received $3,315 to help with their ongoing Explorers programme, their new Adventurers programme for the younger children and purchase of new Mobilo resources.
