Education Funding to local schools
Since the establishment of the Trust in 1871, a main focus for funding distribution has been education.
Tertiary Scholarship recipients for 2025 announced
This year we introduced a tertiary education scholarship programme and recently sought registrations of interest.

Annual General Meeting
The Trust held its AGM on the evening of 29 August at the Greytown Rugby Clubrooms. Thank you to those members of the public that braved the stormy weather that evening and made it along.

Historic Greytown sporting ground secured for community for 99 years

The historic Greytown Rugby Club grounds have been secured for 99 years for community use and renamed as Greytown Lands Trust Park, thanks to a watershed agreement between Greytown Lands Trust, South Wairarapa District Council, and Greytown Rugby Club.

New look for the Trust

Last year we celebrated our 150 anniversary as a cornerstone member of the Greytown Community. As we look forward to another 150 plus years we decided that the time is right to refresh and contemporise our brand and our name, to better reflect our legacy, our place and our focus.

Community Lands
Back in August 2022 the Trust carried out a community survey in relation to proposed changes to the lease arrangements over the four community land areas owned and administered by the Trust on behalf of the Greytown community.

Education Funding -December 2023
Trustees recently considered funding applications from our four local education providers for various initiatives and projects for the 2024 year. The fund available this financial year is $57,450.

Celebrations at Cobblestones
On Wednesday 8 November Phil Holden, Chair of Greytown Trust Lands Trust, Derek Williams, Deputy Chair, Joseph Gillard and Graeme Gray, Co-Chairs of Cobblestones Trust signed a historic 99-year lease for $1 per annum over the land owned by the Trust.

Community Funding Results - 2023
We received nine applications in the recent community funding round for activities and projects in the areas of social, cultural and environmental well-being. The amount available for distribution was $15,000. Trustees evaluated applications received and awarded funding to the following six community groups.

Education Funding Update
In December 2022 the Trust granted $61,200 to our four local education institutions under the Trust’s Education Funding category. A summary of the initiatives applied for and the amounts awarded are as follows:

Tenant Profile – Shadow Gallery turns one
Huge congratulations to Zoe and her team at Shadow Gallery for turning 1 this month. They are celebrating their milestone with a “flash day” on Saturday 20 May.
Tenant Profile – Bodyworks Panel & Paint Wairarapa Ltd
This month’s tenant profile is on Garry Smith and his team at Bodyworks Panel & Paint Wairarapa Ltd at 2 Arbor Place right across from Kuranui College at the South end of town.

At their November board meeting, trustees considered grant applications for funding initiatives from the four local education providers. The education funding pool available this financial year is $61,200.

Celebrating 150 Years of the Trust
Cobblestones Museum was the venue for the recent celebration commemorating 150 years of the Greytown Trust Lands Trust. The evening – held on 24 November 2022 – was attended by almost 100 guests including past Trustees and employees of the Trust, tenants, local councillors, and various members of community groups.

New Trust Board following elections 2022
The new Trust Board met officially for the first time on 26th of October. The first task for the Board was the election of officers with Phil Holden and Derek Williams duly elected Chair and Deputy Chair.
